The History Of Llanishen Churches Together

In 2009 Llanishen Churches Together celebrated its Golden Jubilee.

Our records show that in 1959 the clergy and laity of all the Churches in the Llanishen area were anxious to work more closely together, a move which, for the time, reflected the forward thinking of those involved. Without their enthusiasm many of the united services, events and celebrations of the last fifty years would not have occurred.
Joint services in the churches and services of witness around the local area all served, and still serve, to demonstrate to the community that the Christian churches in our area have much that unites. Joint projects are held throughout the year and there are regular meetings of the local clergy, working groups and the lay representatives.

Many changes have been seen. St. Isan’s large parish was divided into three separate parishes…. St.Denys and Christchurch emerged in their own right while a new church was established in Thornhill to meet the needs of the new community.

Several churches have been rebuilt….Bethel and Christ the King.

A Quiet Garden has been established for the people of Llanishen.

For a time the name was changed to Llanishen and Lisvane Churches Together but in recent years we have reverted to the original name. We are charged with ensuring that the work begun nearly fifty years ago continues and develops in the years to come.
